Chapter 29. 

Jay grabbed my wrist, almost pleadingly. I could have easily pulled away, but for some reason, my body was rooted in place. The suddenly changed atmosphere felt like it was pressing down on us. His bright, sunlit eyes locked onto mine, ensnaring my gaze.

Why was it suddenly so hot?

A certain tension was rising, like a rash. At that moment, his large hand grabbed my back and pulled me toward him. My kneeling posture crumbled, and I was helplessly drawn into his arms. The sound of crushed grass brought me back to my senses.

“…Do you really want to do this while you’re bleeding?”

“I don’t know. It feels like it’s because of you.”

“Don’t play dumb. You were probably always like this.”

“I don’t think so.”

He laughed softly and pulled me even deeper into his embrace. I could feel the gentle vibration right against my chest.

“How can you be so sure when you have no memory?”

“I don’t need that to know.”

“From how you’re acting, it seems like this isn’t your first time…”

“Don’t provoke me. You and I aren’t that different.”

Without warning, Jay lunged forward and kissed the side of my neck. I was startled and immediately pushed him away by his shoulders.

“Hey, ah! That tickles! S-stop.”

“Why?”

“What if Suho sees us!”

“So does that mean it’s okay to do more where Suho can’t see?”

“More of what… Hn, uhngh.”

This time, his soft lips nibbled on my earlobe. The hot, damp quietness just around the tip of my ear was enough to make the hairs on my entire body stand up.

“Don’t be so tense. I’ll pull away as soon as I hear Suho’s footsteps.”

“Suho will see us faster than you’ll hear him, ugh… uhm.”

As if he didn’t want to be interrupted, Jay covered my mouth with his own. His large hands firmly supported the back of my neck and head. Every time his soft tongue delved into my mouth, a shiver ran down my spine, and the area around my shoulder blades felt ticklish.

“Mhm…”

I let out a low moan without realizing it and slowly opened my eyes. At some point, Jay had closed his. We were so close that everything seemed blurry, yet the shadow cast by his long eyelashes was clear. 

His tongue was moving with a familiar, desperate hunger. He would gently caress the tip of my tongue, the inside of my gums, and the roof of my mouth. Sometimes, unable to control his excitement, he would push more forcefully.

“Wuuhnn.”

I was out of breath. I furrowed my brow and pushed him away. Jay, probably aware of his own excitement, obediently backed off. As I broke into a fit of coughing, he gently ran his thumb over the corner of my mouth, checking my expression.

“Cough, be honest. You’re trying to kill me by suffocating me.”

“Was that hard for you?”

“Are you serious?”

“I’ll be gentler.”

He didn’t say he would stop altogether. Jay gave me a quick peck on the cheek and then checked my expression. Next, my eyes, forehead, nose, and lips. Is this okay? And here? It was as if he was slowly expanding his territory, repeatedly planting and lifting his lips on my face.

Even as he focused on me, I couldn’t fully immerse myself in the moment. I kept glancing behind Jay, checking for Suho. Then, Jay slid his hand inside my clothes. I flinched as his cold fingertips touched my side. Even though I gave him a look that asked, What are you doing? 

He offered no excuses and kissed me again.

“Uuhm, ngh, nhhn.”

How long did we kiss? When my jaw and lips started to ache, I belatedly shook my head, trying to escape from his embrace. Instead of letting go of my lips, Jay moved his head down to my neck. The sensation of his tongue licking a long trail up my neck made me shiver and moan.

“Please, stop, now, hn…”

“Okay, just a little more.”

“Ah! You said you’d be gentle! Uhngh,”

He bit into my neck and sucked deeply. A sharp pang of pain and a strange heat rose in me simultaneously. Jay’s body kept pressing in on me. Thump. His heavy weight pushed down on me from above, and I was gradually pushed down into a half-lying position. One of his knees parted my legs and subtly pressed the inside of my thigh.

“Ahngh!”

A sharp jolt of arousal went through me, as if hitting the small of my back. My eyes flew open, and I gripped his shoulders tightly. If he couldn’t control himself, I had to be the one to stop. 

But my body, contrary to my intentions, was accepting him as he panted with excitement. If I just stood by, I would surely get swept away uncontrollably. To shake off the heat that was consuming not just my body but also my mind, I pushed his waist with my knees and his shoulders with my hands.

“Stop, just stop…!”

I truly shuddered, and Jay let out a deep breath. His hot, passionate breath brushed against my neck and dissipated. After collecting himself for a moment, Jay moved back and helped me to my feet. I heard the rustling of grass beneath my hips.

Jay looked like a mess. His eyes were reddish, and his already full lips were swollen and shiny, a deep red. His hair was sweaty and disheveled, and his eyes still simmered with the residue of unfulfilled desire.

“You look so ugly right now,” I said with a blank face.

Jay let out a hollow laugh. He ran a hand through his messy hair, revealing a smooth and clean forehead above his straight eyebrows.

“That hurts my pride. How about now?”

“Just fixing your hair doesn’t make you handsome. Move.”

I fully pushed his chest away with my arm, as he was still standing too close. He stood up first, then offered me his hand, which I used as a support to get to my feet.

“What are you looking at?”

Jay, standing tall like a massive tree, was staring down at me. With his intense gaze, he always seemed to have a hotter temperature than others, even when he was just looking. So it was natural to feel uncomfortable when he was staring at me as if he wanted to stab me with his eyes.

“You, grass…”

He spoke in an uncharacteristically vague way, and his expression looked somehow uncomfortable. His hand twitched nervously as if something was bothering him. 

Then he said, “Hold still,” and started patting me down. His large, pot-lid-sized hands brushed against my back, shoulders, and even my hips. But for someone just brushing off something from my body, he was using way too much force.

Every time his hands touched me, my body swayed. It was impossible to tell if this was an act of care or an assault. Is this bastard doing this on purpose? 

I looked up at him, but Jay’s expression was utterly serious, without a hint of playfulness.

I asked him while being pounded by his hands,

“You’ve never brushed dust off anyone before, have you?”

“I’m doing it right now.”

“Well you’re not dusting me.”

“…I think I have.”

“From now on, if you ever feel the urge to brush off dust, only do it to me. The person you’re trying to do a favor for might mistake it for you trying to knock their teeth out.”

“Are you trying to seduce me?”

“Just be quiet.”

It was at that moment. Suho, who had gone to get the ointment, was walking slowly back. Then he saw something, his face went pale, and he suddenly started running at full speed. He was in front of us in an instant and started punching Jay’s abs.

“Hyung, have you lost your mind?! Why are you hitting Noona!”

“When did I?!”

Jay was being relentlessly hit by Suho’s little-fist punches. See? I knew this would happen.

“Nhhn, uh, ah, stop, now…”

Things were taking a strange turn.

The kiss, which had started as a one-off prank, had now become a part of our daily routine. Every morning, we would stealthily press our lips together under the blankets, careful not to wake up Suho. 

During our work breaks, we’d embrace behind the shelter. Jay, who used to be the last one to wake up eight out of ten days, was now the first one up, waiting for me to open my eyes. 

As a result, my wake-up time also became earlier. It was because of him, sending me such an intense gaze from up close, desperate for me to wake up. How could I possibly sleep soundly when his stare felt like it was burning my face?
