At the report that his daughter had nearly bounced off the bed and crashed onto the floor, Duke Langston shook his head.

“What on earth has gotten into her? She was screaming about how great it is to be healthy?”

The butler gave a wry smile.

“Yes, Your Grace. I’m at a loss as well. For someone who’s never had a day’s illness in her life…”

“Well, even I don’t know, and she’s my daughter. Sigh~ At any rate, it’s a relief her mood has improved.”

Pausing mid laugh, the Duke turned back to the butler.

“Ah, come to think of it, has she apologized to Ray yet?”

“No. She still insists she’d rather die than apologize…”

A long, weary sigh escaped Duke Langston’s lips at the butler’s words.

“Sylvia Langston! Apologize this instant!”

“No! He was the one in the wrong! I hate him! Why did he come to our house without permission?”

“Sylvia! No matter what, you must never throw things at people! What if you had seriously hurt him!?”

“But I didn’t! He dodged it! So I don’t want to apologize! I won’t!”

Was it a mistake to have spoiled his only, beloved daughter so utterly?

He’d known she could be willful, but never to this extent. She’d flung a wooden block at someone, showed not a shred of remorse, and had the gall to be angry about it instead. The incident had left the Duke quite shaken.

He’d scolded her severely, demanding she apologize immediately, but it seemed that today, once again, she hadn’t gone to see Ray.

“Your… Your Grace.”

“Speak.”

“Ray says it’s all right. It seems receiving an apology from the Young Lady would only make him more uncomfortable.”

At the butler’s cautious words, the Duke’s expression darkened. In his mind flashed an image of Ray, Lorelai’s nephew—a timid-looking boy who kept strictly to the annex.

“No. Even so, that won’t do. For the sake of Sylvia’s upbringing, I must make her apologize.”

He couldn’t stand by and let the future Crown Princess act with such arrogance any longer. The Duke shook his head at the butler’s attempt to mediate. He was determined to use this incident to correct his wayward daughter’s disposition once and for all.

Dinner time.

The Duke had forewarned his wife as well.

At his declaration that Sylvia would be made to apologize to Ray, the Duchess nodded in agreement.

Oblivious to her parents’ resolve, Sylvia waltzed into the dining room, singing a made-up song.

“I like, I like myself, oh, why, you ask? Why?

Because I’m healthy.

Health-health-healthy~

Health. Health.

Health is important. My body’s healthy.

Being healthy is so cool.

I’m so coo~ool~

My body’s so cool!”

At times like this, she was every inch the child she was—green and naïve.

The Duke’s stern expression nearly softened at the sight of his silly daughter, but the Duchess tapped his foot under the table and shook her head. Thanks to his wife, he barely managed to keep a stern face and addressed his daughter in a grave tone.

“Sylvia. Come sit here.”

Contrary to the Duke’s hope that she might be a little intimidated, Sylvia raised her hand cheerfully and replied.

“Yes! Healthy Sylvia will go sit in the chair!”

As the butler had said, his daughter seemed deeply impressed with her own good health. He couldn’t fathom why she was suddenly obsessed with it, but that wasn’t the point right now.

The Duke cleared his throat and went straight to the matter at hand.

“I heard you didn’t apologize to Ray again today.”

“Yes! Because I didn’t do anything wrong!”

“You did nothing wrong? You threw a block at Ray. If it had hit him, he could have been seriously hurt. And you claim you did nothing wrong?”

“Yes! But it didn’t hit him, did it? He’s not hurt, so why should I apologize?”

It was the same argument as days ago. The Duke shook his head in dismay.

“Sylvia! How many times must I tell you? As the future Crown Princess, you must conduct yourself properly!”

“But Father,” she countered, blinking her eyes in that deceptively cute way of hers, “if I am going to be the Crown Princess, then I won’t have to apologize to anyone, right?”

The Duke was struck speechless. His daughter rebutted him point by point without even a speck of remorse. It was maddening.

The Duchess, who had been watching, answered in her husband’s stead.

“Sylvia. Yes, you’ve been designated as the future Crown Princess… but that is all it is—future. Not guaranteed. If you keep acting so recklessly, His Highness the Crown Prince will end up disliking you.”

“Hmm… But there’s no one with a higher title than Father. So who else would become Crown Princess but me?”

“Th-there are many people, dear. Many wish to be Crown Princess.”

“But whoever it is, she’d be less pretty than me, and her father’d be of lower rank than Father’s. Why would His Highness like someone else instead of me? Don’t you worry, Mom! Such a thing could never happen!”

She beamed, utterly convinced of her own logic, and lifted her fork to eat her meat.

That was the moment when the Duchess’s nagging words finally reached Sylvia’s ears.

“How could it never happen? His Highness Eric has a gentle nature. If he knew you were behaving so badly, there’s no way he’d like you!”

Nodding vigorously at his wife’s words, Duke Langston took over.

“A wicked Crown Princess who doesn’t know how to apologize for her misdeeds! When, pray tell, will you develop any awareness that you are to become a member of the Donovan Imperial Family? You may be young, but if you grow up like this, you’ll bring shame not just to our house, but leave a disgraceful name in imperial history!”

The moment the Duke’s rebuke ended, the fork slipped weakly from Sylvia’s grip.

Clatter-

Clang-clang-

The sound of the fork clattering loudly on the floor echoed through the room.

Startled by his daughter’s shocked appearance, the Duke flinched. Was I too harsh? He thought as he looked at his daughter’s pale face.

But Sylvia’s gaze was fixed not on him, but on the Duchess.

“M-mom, what… what did you just say?”

“Hm? What did I say…”

Flustered by her daughter’s reaction, the Duchess ran through her recent words.

“That His Highness Eric might come to dislike you?”

At the Duchess’s words, Sylvia’s face grew even paler.

“Eric… So the Crown Prince’s name is Eric Donovan? Really? Is that true? No? It can’t… it can’t be, right? That’s impossible?”

“Silvia! You can’t refer to His Highness so carelessly!”

The startled Duchess tried to scold her, but her mother’s voice didn’t reach Sylvia’s ears.

Inside Sylvia’s head, an old pop song began to play on a loop.

Why are you coming out here~ is what it said.

As she heard the chorus repeat in a loop in her head, Sylvia swayed and barely managed to grab the armrest.

God. This can’t be happening.

Sylvia clenched her teeth tightly.

The name Eric Donovan was all too familiar to her.

Not simply because he was her future fiancé.

Eric Donovan. That was the exact name of the male protagonist in the novel she had loved when she was ‘the girl from Room 804.’

A shiver shot down her arms.

Transmigration.

Transmigration?!

She had thought she had been blessed with a new, lovely life, born in a golden-spoon family and had pretty pink hair and sky-blue eyes resembling her father.

But the moment she heard her fiancé’s name was Eric Donovan, Sylvia unwillingly realized the truth about her own future.

Because in that novel she loved so much… The male lead had an absolutely terrible fiancée.

And her name was…

Sylvia squeezed her eyes shut. But in the darkness of her mind, a huge banner unfurled with a decisive snap.

[ Sylvia Langston: ten years from now, after smoothly walking the path of a villainess, is destined for a gruesome death! ]

“Hic, heuup. Hic—heuaaang! Waaah!”

It began with a mutter, then Sylvia’s face turned as red as a ripe apple.

Her sudden, inconsolable wailing, devoid of any warning, instantly threw the Langston family dinner into complete chaos.

“T-this child! She’s just putting on an act because she doesn’t want to be scolded again!”

The Duke tried to hide his panic and continue the lecture, but Sylvia only cried harder—so hard it looked like she’d faint from dehydration.

Completely shaken by the unexpected disaster, the Duke shouted at the butler to summon the family physician immediately.

╭══ ≪ •❈• ≫ ══╮

A full-scale emergency erupted upon House Langston.

“This way! Quickly!”

Urged on by the butler stomping his feet in impatience, even the physician grew tense. He rushed in and checked Sylvia’s condition.

“Hic… Heuung… Healthy… H-heuk… hnnn… My heaaaalth…”

By the time the physician arrived, Sylvia was exhausted but still weeping.

The doctor began his examination, frowning deeper with each check, repeatedly tilting his head in confusion. Duke and Duchess Langston turned pale.

“Is it a serious illness? Our daughter has never been like this before!”

The Duke pressed the physician with an anxious face. The man hesitated, then let out a sigh.

“No. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Young Lady.”

At the physician’s words, the tension finally drained from the Duke and Duchess’s bodies.

“Well then, why on earth is Sylvia acting like this?”

“…Has anyone around her passed suddenly or fallen gravely ill recently?”

“No one. Why do you ask such a thing?”

“It would seem the Young Lady is suffering from anxiety… Anxiety related to health.”

Health… anxiety? The Duke and Duchess looked at each other simultaneously.

Amid the heavy silence, only Sylvia’s feeble voice echoed faintly.

“Healthy… My health! Heuk… H-hic.”
