Hearing what Mu Qianyu said, Mu Xudong’s expression shifted sharply. His voice dropped, low and heavy:

“You—how did you find out about the marriage arrangement?”

He’d been plotting this for ages. The plan had already been approved by both Mu Chengchang and Mu Chengsheng, two of the Mu clan’s elder patriarchs. The goal? To get Mu Qianyu as far away from Linzhou as possible.

“Fifth Uncle,” Mu Qianyu replied with her usual calm smile, “let’s not dwell on how I found out. It’s not like we’re living in the old days—trying to marry me off without consulting me or my father? That’s not just old-fashioned. It’s outrageous.”

Mu Xudong let out a cold laugh.

“Our Mu family has never managed to break out of Jiangnan. But the Fang family in the capital—they’re on the rise. Marrying into them is the fastest path to our family’s future.”

“Mu Qianyu, this is your chance to contribute to the clan. If you can’t even make this small sacrifice, how can we trust you to lead us to greater heights?”

He came well-prepared, stringing together lofty ideals and empty praise. If it had been anyone else, they would’ve folded by now.

But not her.

Qianyu’s expression didn’t falter.

“That Fang Jingyang has a filthy personal life. If the clan truly cared about me, would they want me married to someone like him?”

Second Grandpa Mu Chengchang’s face darkened.

“Better to marry into the Fang family than to keep mixing with the underworld! Get too close to that scoundrel, and you’ll drag your name through the mud!”

A fair point—Su Wuji’s reputation in Linzhou nightlife was even worse than Fang Jingyang’s.

Qianyu simply shook her head.

“And what if I refuse?”

Mu Chengchang’s eyes turned to steel.

“Then we’ll issue a joint statement. Effective immediately, you’ll be expelled from the Mu family.”

Mu Xudong added coldly, “Think carefully. Once you’re out, you lose the Mu family’s protection. And once that happens… danger will come knocking.”

A threat—naked and unvarnished.

This was exactly what Su Wuji had warned her about: In a battle for inheritance, you can’t afford to back down. One step back, and it might cost you your life.

Qianyu smiled faintly.

“Isn’t it a bit too early to conclude, Fifth Uncle? Don’t you want to hear what I’ve been preparing?”

Her calm demeanor made Mu Xudong uneasy.

“You’re about to be cut off from the family. Whatever you’ve prepared is meaningless,” he scoffed.

“Not necessarily,” Qianyu said softly.

At that moment, Mu Xudong’s secretary rushed in, his face pale and panic-stricken.

“Boss, something’s wrong—Madam and Young Master Zhihui didn’t make it out of the country!”

“What?” Mu Xudong’s voice was sharp. “The flight’s departure procedures were all finalized!”

Even Qianyu arched a brow at that.

“Boss… two excavators appeared out of nowhere. They smashed the private jet to pieces with hydraulic breakers!”

Excuse me? Excavators?

To destroy a luxury private jet?!

“What?!” Mu Xudong’s jaw clenched in disbelief.

Qianyu instantly knew who was behind it.

She let out a laugh, the stubborn pride in her eyes melting into warmth.

No matter what his motives are… at least, when everyone else turns on me, he still stands by my side.

The secretary took a deep breath.

“Madam fainted in the cabin. And Young Master Zhihui…”

Mu Xudong grabbed him by the collar.

“What happened? Speak!”

“He… he was taken. And in the cabin… we found… a bloody ear.”

The secretary’s lips were white. His voice trembled.

“It wasn’t cut off. It was torn off.”

Boom!

Mu Xudong staggered backward, collapsing into a chair.

Qianyu massaged her temples.

This kind of heavy-handed, twisted style… fit that scoundrel’s infamous name.

Suddenly—

A deafening rumble tore through the air.

The sharp stench of diesel fumes wafted in on the breeze, hitting everyone in the courtyard.

People rushed outside—just in time to see the outer wall of the ancestral estate come crashing down!

Through the swirling dust emerged the monstrous form of a Scania heavy-duty truck, roaring over the rubble with reckless abandon.

It didn’t slow down. It didn’t swerve.

It charged straight into the estate like it owned the place.

For a full ten seconds, no one moved.

Was the driver drunk?

The scene was too absurd—they hadn’t even registered that this was intentional.

In the driver’s seat, Su Wuji muttered,

“What kind of shitty garden is this? Who builds roads this narrow?”

Then he hit the gas.

Vroooom!

The truck let out another monstrous bellow.

Its massive nose crushed the arched entry gate like paper, smashing into a beautifully designed courtyard.

Potted plants—priceless bonsai—shattered under its tires.

Years of meticulous care, countless yuan spent collecting and shaping those miniatures…

All ground into mulch.

Those bonsai had been Mu Chengsheng’s pride. He’d scoured the country for them, tending to them daily.

Now, watching them crushed one by one, Mu Chengsheng was trembling from head to toe.

“Stop him! Stop him now!” he roared.

His breath was ragged.

Before anyone could react, Su Wuji spun the wheel and slammed the brakes.

The truck skidded, executing a perfect drift.

The most expensive piece in the entire collection—a centuries-old Huangshan pine—snapped in two.

“You bastard! You absolute bastard…!”

Mu Chengsheng’s face contorted. The fury hit him so hard he keeled over and fainted.

“Quick, press his philtrum!”

“Does he need CPR?”

“Someone call an ambulance!”

Chaos erupted.

In the midst of it all, Mu Qianyu stood perfectly still. Her white dress fluttered in the dust-laden wind.

Her gaze locked onto the young man in the driver’s seat.

In her eyes, an emotion that flickered, fragile and rare.

He came.

After desecrating the bonsai garden, Su Wuji showed no signs of slowing down.

Rumble… rumble…

He charged straight toward the crowd.

The Mu family scrambled like ants, tripping over one another in panic.

He wasn’t trying to kill them—just scare the life out of them.

He yanked the wheel, gunned the gas, and smashed through the side corridor.

Then he roared right into the ancestral hall.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The hall collapsed in on itself.

“Shoddy construction,” Su Wuji muttered, curling his lip.

He wasn’t wrong. This ancient compound had stood for generations—many beams were already rotted, the brick walls cracked and brittle.

“Stop him!” Mu Xudong climbed to his feet, covered in dust. “Now!”

But the bodyguards didn’t move.

No one was suicidal enough to face down a speeding truck.

Seeing no one step up, Mu Xudong fumed—

Until the truck turned and barreled straight toward him.

Like it was ready to flatten him without hesitation.

He panicked. Tripping, scrambling, he dove into a koi pond to save his own life.

The truck screeched to a halt, perfectly parked right next to the water.

The driver’s window rolled down.

A hand reached out.

Two fingers raised in a peace sign.

Mu Qianyu smiled.

She lifted her pale, delicate fingers and gave him a thumbs-up.

The Mu family’s hundred-year-old ancestral home… now bore several new roads, courtesy of one man and a truck.

The garden? Ruined.

The painted corridors? Rubble.

The air was thick with dust and diesel.

And Su Wuji, hopping down from the cab, clapped the dirt from his hands.

Then he looked up at Mu Qianyu with a crooked grin.

“Hey. I’m not late, am I?”
