In truth, it wasn’t just Linjiang University—any top university in the country could be “entered” with the right connections. Even those two most prestigious institutions weren’t immune.

But the fact that Jiang Haobing, a native of the capital, hadn’t gone to either of them and instead came to Linzhou… made one thing abundantly clear:

His family’s influence wasn’t all that impressive after all.

Just as Su Wujì was gazing up at the university gates, the tall, bulky guy in the black T-shirt had already popped open the Cayenne’s trunk—and yanked out a golf club.

He stalked over and jabbed the cold iron head against Su Wujì’s chest.

A sneer curled his lips.

“Apologize to Haobing. Right now. Or I, Xu Jiaze, will make sure you never find a foothold in Linzhou!”

The moment he heard that name, Su Wujì let out a sharp, barking laugh.

“You’re Xu Jiaze? Is Old Sixth Xu your dad?”

The way he said it, the casual ridicule—it was as if this whole group of overgrown children was playing pretend. Threatening people like this was so… amateur.

Xu Jiaze gave a cold chuckle.

“You think this is funny? Go ahead and laugh now. I’ll have you on your knees bawling like a baby in a minute!”

He swung the golf club in a wide arc—

Smash!

The front windshield of the Santana exploded, a fist-sized hole punched clean through. Jagged cracks radiated outward like a spiderweb.

Su Wujì didn’t even flinch.

Instead, he calmly fished a cigarette from his pocket, tucked it between his lips—unlit—and slowly pulled out his phone.

He started recording.

Xu Jiaze didn’t care. Let him record all he wanted. Even if the video made it online, he had ways to get it erased instantly.

Let him post it. I’ll have it wiped in five minutes.
This is Linzhou. There’s nothing I can’t cover up—especially not for a punk in a rusted-out Santana.

Bang! Bang! Bang!
The golf club came down over and over—windshields, side windows, back glass—all shattered.

Shards rained into the car like glittering hail.

In the span of a minute, the Santana was a gutted shell. Not even fit to sit in anymore.

Song Zhiyu’s heart ached at the sight.

These classmates—their arrogance, their cruelty—it was the first time she’d witnessed how ugly people could be outside the mountains.

Xu Jiaze was gasping for breath by now. He’d gone all in on the destruction, but his nightclub-ravaged body wasn’t built for exertion. Sweat streamed down his face.

“You done?” Su Wujì still wore that half-smile, eyes narrowed in amusement.

“You still haven’t apologized?” Xu Jiaze gave a breathless laugh. “Keep being stubborn, and your head’s next.”

He raised the club again and smashed it down on the headlight.

Crash!

The beam burst into glittering pieces.

“Xu Jiaze, stop it! Don’t break anything else!” Song Zhiyu finally couldn’t stay silent.

She’d promised Wujì-ge she wouldn’t speak—but watching them humiliate him like this, she couldn’t stay quiet any longer.

Jiang Haobing stood with both hands in his pockets, his voice like ice.

“Keep going, Jiaze. Don’t stop. Make them regret ever crossing us.”

He walked over and slammed his foot into the side door with a loud thud.

The door caved in like paper.

Xu Jiaze turned and gave Song Zhiyu a contemptuous smirk.

“Zhiyu, you should feel honored that Jiang-shao even likes you. But clearly, you don’t deserve it. You’re just a clueless mountain bumpkin!”

The only girl in the group sneered with folded arms.

“Don’t think you’re some great beauty, Song Zhiyu. You’re as provincial as they come. Go to the Linzhou Business Club and look around—those girls in line waiting to be picked? Way classier than you. Better educated, too.”

The insults hit like slaps.

Song Zhiyu’s face flushed crimson.

She clenched her fists so hard her nails dug into her palm. Her lips were pressed shut, her teeth biting down until the skin nearly broke.

And Su Wujì?

He didn’t say a word. Just patted her shoulder lightly, like this wasn’t worth worrying about.

He didn’t even seem to plan on stepping in.

His other hand was still holding the phone, calmly recording everything.

Xu Jiaze and Jiang Haobing exchanged a glance—utterly convinced.

Coward.

Loser.

Any real man would’ve gone ballistic by now. But this one?

He just kept filming.

Jiang Haobing was pleased with how things were playing out. Truth be told, he’d felt an instant attraction to Song Zhiyu.

But the fact that she had the gall to ask him to apologize earlier?

That wounded his pride.

Now, he wanted to grind this girl’s dignity into the dirt.

Xu Jiaze barked again, “Both of you—apologize to Haobing right now!”

Out of the whole group, only he called him “Haobing.” The rest used “Jiang-shao.”

The hierarchy was obvious.

Su Wujì didn’t answer.

He was still looking at the phone screen… then chuckled.

“Old Sixth Xu, are you watching this?”

A voice crackled from the other end of the call—low, gravelly, a middle-aged man’s fury barely leashed.

“Su Shao, I saw everything. How the hell did I raise such a little bastard?!”

Xu Jiaze froze, the color draining from his face.

His mouth opened slightly. “You… You’re on the phone with my dad?”

Su Wujì grinned. “Old Sixth Xu, your son smashed my luxury car. Think carefully about how you’re gonna make this right.”

Xu Jiaze scoffed. “Luxury car? That piece of junk isn’t worth 2,000 yuan. You call that a luxury car?”

A harsh roar cut through from the phone.

“Xu Jiaze! You worthless little punk! Apologize to Su Shao this instant!”

Xu Jiaze stared at his phone in disbelief. “Dad… Are you serious? You want me to apologize to him?”

On the other end, Xu Dongkai was already losing his mind.

He’d burned every bridge, called in every favor just to get this idiot son into Linjiang University.

And now, on the very first day, he’d picked a fight with that person?

“Xu Jiaze, if you don’t get Su Shao’s forgiveness, don’t even think about coming home again! As far as I’m concerned, you’re no longer my son!”

Silence fell like a dropped guillotine.

The other students were completely stunned.

How… how could this be?

Why was Xu Dongkai—one of Linzhou’s most powerful men—terrified of some guy driving a beat-up Santana?

Xu Jiaze shouted into the phone, “Dad! Why are you defending some broke loser?!”

On the other end, Xu Dongkai sucked in a long, ragged breath.

Loser?

That one word almost gave him a stroke on the spot.

Su Wujì chuckled. “Old Sixth Xu, your son just cursed me to my face. Let me help you teach him some manners—is that alright?”

“Yes, yes! Please, Su Shao—discipline him as you see fit! I’ll buy a brand-new Maybach and have it delivered to Queen’s Bar tomorrow!”

“Forget the car. Just get your idiot son to submit his withdrawal paperwork.”

Su Wujì looked again toward the university gates. His voice dropped, faint and distant.

“Letting him study here would only shame Linjiang’s name.”

“You think you can kick me out?” Xu Jiaze roared, eyes bloodshot. He jabbed the golf club into Su Wujì’s chest again. “I’m doing Linjiang a favor by enrolling!”

Crack!

The next moment, a sharp pain exploded across his cheek.

Su Wujì had raised his hand and slapped him clean across the face.

Xu Jiaze stumbled back several steps before falling flat on his ass.

The golf club flew from his hand, snatched by Su Wujì in a blink.

Su Wujì loomed over him, voice colder than winter steel.

“Linjiang’s honor doesn’t need favors from trash like you.”

A chill ran down Xu Jiaze’s spine. The light in Su Wujì’s eyes was like a blade—sharp enough to cut bone.

And for the first time, he felt it—real fear.
