Half an hour later, Su Wuji and Mu Qianyu arrived at the headquarters of Linmu Insurance.

For Mu Qianyu, this battle had to be won.

She couldn’t explain why, but the moment she brought Su Wuji along, a strange sense of ease and reassurance settled over her.

They both glanced at the mirror inside the elevator.

Su Wuji blinked, suddenly realizing, “Wait… are our clothes the same color?”

Both of them were dressed in beige—nearly identical, like matching couple outfits.

Mu Qianyu pressed her lips into a smile. “Yeah. What a coincidence.”

But Su Wuji, ever the clueless straight man, raised a brow. “Coincidence? Didn’t you pick this outfit for me?”

Mu Qianyu bit her lip, her smile vanishing. She said nothing.

Behind them, Xiao Pang’s muffled voice rumbled, “Boss, look. Miss Mu’s blushing.”

Mu Qianyu: “…”

In that moment, she finally understood why Su Wuji always docked Xiao Pang’s pay when he lost it.

Su Wuji glanced again at her reflection. Sure enough, Mu Qianyu’s face was tinged with a vivid blush, a peachy pink blooming across her cheeks—absolutely stunning.

He couldn’t help but murmur, “You’re beautiful.”

Xiao Pang added from behind, “Even her ears are red.”

Surrounded on both sides, Mu Qianyu felt as if ants were crawling all over her skin. Her hands clenched into fists. She had a sudden urge to bolt from the elevator.

If she didn’t know Xiao Pang was a truth-bound Asperger’s case, she would’ve thought this master-servant duo had teamed up to flirt with her.

Meanwhile, in the boardroom, the board members had already taken their seats.

The atmosphere here was nothing like the light-hearted elevator ride.

“I heard Mu Qianyu used underhanded tricks to wrest those shares from Chairman Mu Dongsheng. Starting today, we’ve got a new boss breathing down our necks.”

“New chairperson? No way the board votes that through! Pick anyone from this room and they’d be more qualified than her!”

“Hell, kick them out if we have to! She used force to deal with her own family—don’t think we won’t return the favor!”

The messy clamor made it abundantly clear—no one wanted Mu Qianyu at the helm of Linmu Insurance.

Even though Mu Dongsheng had already transferred the shares, the path to real control was steep. At least two-thirds of the people here were old friends and loyalists of Mu Dongsheng.

Then, the board secretary, He Yiheng, suddenly stood up.

Through the floor-to-ceiling glass of the conference room, they could see the elevator doors open.

Two men and a woman stepped into view.

In the corridor outside the boardroom, a dozen bodyguards stood in a line, brought along by the various board members.

But when Xiao Pang appeared, he stood out like a crane among chickens. His towering presence made the rest of the bodyguards look like children in cosplay.

Mu Qianyu was the first to enter the room.

Su Wuji followed behind her and gave Xiao Pang a brief command: “Stand guard at the door. No one comes in or goes out unless I say so. If they try—break their legs.”

“Yes.” Xiao Pang nodded.

Then, as if remembering how literal-minded the guy was, Su Wuji quickly added, “Except for me and Qianyu.”

Xiao Pang responded woodenly, “Boss, I can tell you two apart. No need to specify.”

Mu Qianyu, just about to muster her presence to face down a room full of opponents, nearly burst into laughter on the spot.

From inside the room, only Xiao Pang’s body from the neck down was visible—his massive head completely blocked by the doorway. Like a human tower, he sealed the entrance entirely.

Instantly, the air in the room grew tense.

Mu Qianyu glanced at Su Wuji and forced a smile.

“Good afternoon, everyone. I’m Mu Qianyu, the majority shareholder of Linmu Insurance. I believe you’re all aware that today, the group will be electing a new chairperson.”

A board member slammed the table. “This is outrageous! The Mu family is treating the company like a toy! You can’t just replace a chairman on a whim! I strongly oppose this!”

His name was Zhuo Chengqi. Fifty-six years old. Held five percent of the shares.

“Mr. Zhuo,” Mu Qianyu said calmly, clearly expecting the resistance. “If you disagree, you’re free to abstain during the vote. There’s no need to shout now.”

Zhuo Chengqi crossed his arms, voice dripping with threat. “Heh. Listen up, everyone—if anyone dares vote in favor of Mu Qianyu, they’re making an enemy of me. For life.”

He’d never once acknowledged her qualifications.

Even before this meeting, Zhuo had declared that he’d never let Mu Qianyu take the throne.

Su Wuji stood quietly behind her and cast Zhuo a glance—the kind of look one might give a particularly dumb farm animal.

To most of the directors, Su Wuji was just Mu Qianyu’s assistant—at best, a glorified bodyguard.

None of them connected this mild-looking young man to the infamous devil of Linzhou’s nightlife scene.

Even if they had known, they wouldn’t have taken him seriously. A street punk who brawled in clubs had no place in the refined halls of corporate power.

Another board member, Liu Liangxuan, gave a mocking chuckle. “Miss Mu, why don’t you tell us exactly what dirty tricks you used to pry those shares from Mu Dongsheng’s hands?”

“Dirty tricks?”

Mu Qianyu’s brows drew together at the word.

Mu Ziyang had hired assassins to kill her. And to save his son, Mu Dongsheng—his father—gave up the shares. Compared to them, who was the despicable one?

Before she could speak, Su Wuji stepped in.

“Telling it would be boring. Why don’t I demonstrate instead?”

Liu Liangxuan sneered, slamming the table. “Who the hell do you think you are? You think you have a voice in a board meeting now? Are we letting stray dogs in here?”

Su Wuji shrugged and snapped his fingers. “Xiao Pang. Demonstrate for him.”

The tower of a man moved.

Bang!

No one even saw it happen. Xiao Pang’s fist exploded across a bodyguard’s face, sending the man flying—his head cracked hard against the glass wall of the hallway.

Crash!

Glass shattered everywhere.

Blood streamed down the unconscious man’s face as he collapsed to the floor, out cold.

Several directors leapt to their feet in panic.

“Sit. I said no one leaves.”

Su Wuji pressed a hand down in the air, still smiling. “Otherwise… I will break legs.”

Liu Liangxuan’s whole body trembled.

Because the one who got knocked out… was his bodyguard.

Coincidence? Or a warning shot?

Had they even investigated his staff beforehand?

The directors were all stunned. None of them had ever imagined a board meeting could turn into this.

Su Wuji smiled. “So, any other objections? Feel free to raise them. I’m very democratic.”

Liu Liangxuan clenched his fists. “Democratic, my ass!”

Mu Qianyu still wore a gentle smile.

She hadn’t even played a single card yet, and Su Wuji had already silenced most of the room.

Then Zhuo Chengqi slammed the table again. “This is madness! I’m calling the police—this is assault with malice! You’ve injured someone!”

Su Wuji tilted his head, looked at the bloodied man, then back at Zhuo. He smiled like a spring breeze.

“That little scratch counts as malice?”

He turned to Xiao Pang. “Teach him what real assault with malice looks like.”
