Shadow Heir II: Dark Glory - Chapter 23
At the wordless signal, Xiao Pang stepped forward. One foot forward, one brutal kick.
Just like that—two simple moves—and a bodyguard standing five meters away was sent flying through the air!
He landed with a thud, skidding across the floor until he crashed against the far end of the corridor.
Xiao Pang didn’t pause. He strode over, hauled the man up with one hand, and drove a fist straight into his chest.
Boom!
The bodyguard was smashed backward again, crumpling to the floor like a ragdoll. Blood poured from his mouth, his chest rising in ragged, shallow gasps. Several ribs had snapped.
Su Wuji turned to Zhuo Chengqi, flashing a grin. “Honestly, that little kick and punch? Just me expressing a touch of malice.”
Zhuo Chengqi’s lips trembled. He pointed a shaking finger at Su Wuji, utterly speechless.
That was his man—his bodyguard—sprawled on the ground, coughing blood!
The message was crystal clear. From the moment Mu Qianyu walked into this meeting, she’d come prepared. Every strike, every move—precise and devastating.
And at this moment, Mu Qianyu turned her head, gaze locking with Su Wuji’s. Her eyes lit up with delight, a sparkle of admiration blooming in their depths.
I didn’t know my partner was this prepared…
Su Wuji winked at her, clicking his tongue playfully. His expression was the picture of irreverent ease.
Liu Liangxuan, still clinging to the illusion that Su Wuji was merely Mu Qianyu’s lapdog, slammed the table and pointed at her with a sneer.
“No matter what stunt you pull, violence won’t win you Linmu Insurance! I was a close friend of Mu Dongsheng—I’ll never vote in your favor!”
Mu Qianyu shook her head gently. “Director Liu, if you check your inbox right now, you’ll find an email. It contains a detailed investigation into your misconduct since taking office, down to the last decimal.”
Liu Liangxuan froze, his face stiffening like he’d been struck.
“You dare slander me?” he hissed.
Mu Qianyu’s voice remained calm. “Whether it’s slander or not, you know best. If that report goes public, Linmu Insurance will suffer an irreparable blow.”
“The company’s reputation will crash. Clients’ trust? Gone.”
She swept her gaze across the boardroom, lingering on each face.
Linmu Insurance is the fruit of everyone’s hard work here. I believe no one wants to see it torn apart by personal greed.”
“You’re making baseless accusations!” Liu Liangxuan’s face twisted with rage.
But just then, Mu Qianyu gave a slight nod to He Yiheng, the board’s secretary.
He opened a folder on the table, producing a stack of documents.
“These are the full records of Director Liu’s violations. Whether they should be made public—I’ll leave that to everyone here.”
His voice cut through the room more sharply than any of Su Wuji’s punches.
After all, no one knew the company’s inner workings better than He Yiheng.
Now it was clear—Mu Qianyu had a powerful insider all along.
Liu Liangxuan’s eyes burned with fury. “You treacherous snake!”
But He Yiheng remained unbothered, distributing the documents calmly.
“I’m no traitor. I’ve always been Uncle Yuanming’s man.”
Mu Yuanming. The second master of the Mu family. Mu Qianyu’s father.
Several directors sucked in a breath. The room fell so silent, a pin drop would echo.
After everyone had reviewed the documents, Mu Qianyu spoke again.
“Gentlemen, the numbers in this report are all real. I don’t know about you, but I found them horrifying.”
No one spoke.
Even Zhuo Chengqi—who’d been the loudest earlier—was now as quiet as a stone statue.
Liu Liangxuan’s face had gone ghostly pale.
Finally, one board member broke the silence.
“This… can’t be made public. If it is, Linmu Insurance is finished.”
Mu Qianyu looked straight at Liu Liangxuan. “Director Liu, I’m afraid your time on this board is over. But I’ll offer you a choice.”
She paused.
“Turn yourself in—or jump from the building.”
Turn yourself in… or jump.
At that moment, the air around Mu Qianyu shifted.
The delicate, charming girl had vanished.
In her place stood a queen, radiating command.
Su Wuji hadn’t seen her like this since the bone-setting clinic in Jiangnan, when she’d shouted those bodyguards down with nothing but presence.
Now, no one objected. No one dared accuse her of being cruel.
Because if everything in those documents was true…
Liu Liangxuan really only has two ways out.
Zhuo Chengqi slammed the table with a snarl. “Liu Liangxuan! You’ve dragged us all down!”
He and Liu Liangxuan had conspired in advance, rallying other board members to deal a blow to Mu Qianyu today.
But now, Liu Liangxuan’s scandals have been laid bare. Zhuo Chengqi had been caught in the blast.
Mu Qianyu looked down at Liu Liangxuan, voice cold.
“For the good of the company, cough up every cent you stole. We’ll allow you a graceful exit.”
Liu Liangxuan slumped in his chair, too pale to respond.
Every accusation Mu Qianyu had leveled—true.
And if it all went to court… life in prison was the minimum.
Su Wuji gestured to Xiao Pang. “Take this old bastard out. Make sure he spits out everything he owes.”
Xiao Pang marched over and dragged Liu Liangxuan away.
There was no resistance.
The moment they were out of the boardroom—
Thud!
A heavy punch landed square in Liu Liangxuan’s gut.
“Spit it out,” said Xiao Pang.
“Ughhh—!” Liu Liangxuan retched violently.
Su Wuji’s face twitched. He turned away, hands on his hips, jaw tightening.
The absurdity of the scene didn’t draw a single chuckle.
Zhuo Chengqi sat like stone, face ashen.
The other directors who had planned to support him now eyed him with suspicion.
Clearly, they were beginning to doubt whether his own hands were clean.
Mu Qianyu bent down and picked up a shard of broken glass from the floor. She placed it lightly on the table.
“I never intended to be anyone’s enemy,” she said softly. “If you’d met me with civility from the start, things wouldn’t have come to this.”
Many eyes flickered toward that shard of glass.
She looked young… but her resolve was terrifying.
Mu Qianyu and that young man in the beige shirt—one struck from the front, the other from the flank—had flipped the entire situation in a blink.
She glanced calmly around the room.
“So long as no one else hurls verbal attacks at me, I won’t retaliate.”
No one spoke.
Everyone was weighing their options.
Zhuo Chengqi knew—even if he resisted now, it would be useless.
Mu Qianyu continued, “In the past few years, the second branch of the Mu family under my management has increased its net profits by sevenfold.”
“Linmu Insurance, meanwhile, has been in steady decline.”
“If I become chairwoman, I can promise: none of your interests will suffer.”
A full minute passed.
Then, one of the former dissenters broke the silence.
“Thinking back… to claw her way to the top of the Mu family’s brutal power struggle—Miss Mu could never be ordinary.”
Another director nodded. “Business is business. I won’t fight against money. Partnering with Miss Mu… I think Linmu’s future might finally look bright.”
If the vote were called now, even if she didn’t win by a landslide, Mu Qianyu would no longer face humiliation.
Su Wuji stood by silently, watching the girl in the matching outfit beside him, his lips quivering in awe.
At this point, his job was done.
He’d thrown the first punch, turned the tide.
But to win their hearts—that was all on her.
And she was close. So close to total victory.
She hasn’t even played her trump card yet… but I know she’s holding it.
Just then, Secretary He Yiheng spoke.
“Shall we vote now? All in favor of appointing Miss Mu Qianyu as Chair of Limu Insurance, please raise your hand.”
But Mu Qianyu lifted a hand. “One moment.”
From her satchel, she pulled out a single sheet of paper.
She unfolded it.
Red-letterhead document.
All eyes snapped to it.
“This,” Mu Qianyu said, “is the official approval for establishing the Linmu Commercial Bank.”
“Everyone here will be a founding shareholder.”
A stunned silence.
Then, sharp gasps filled the air.
Trump card. Played.
