In the backseat of the car, Mu Qianyu opened her phone and pulled up international news.

“So it’s true—the Silvermoon Organization does exist. But there’s not much solid information about them. Just whispers and rumors, like chasing shadows.”

She still felt a little dazed. The revelations Su Wuji had thrown out had long since shattered her baseline understanding of the world.

The board meeting had ended in chaos. Zhuo Chengqi had been scared half to death by the mention of Silvermoon, practically soiling himself on the spot.

“I heard from a friend that Silvermoon’s assassins have already arrived in Linzhou,” Su Wuji said casually. “Zhuo Chengqi doesn’t have many days left to strut around.”

Mu Qianyu asked, “Even if he hires a top-tier security firm, it’s useless?”

Su Wuji nodded slightly. “Silvermoon recruits only orphans. Every one of them is trained from childhood under brutal, inhumane conditions. That’s why they’re so lethal. But the organization’s methods are controversial internationally. Their policy of punishing an entire family is considered barbaric by many.”

If Silvermoon had marked him, Zhuo Chengqi’s wife and son were as good as dead.

“No matter what, human trafficking is unforgivable,” Mu Qianyu said softly.

Her tone was calm, but not judgmental. She wasn’t rushing to the moral high ground to scold Silvermoon for their methods.

After a moment, she added, “I can’t really pass judgment. If I were one of those orphans, maybe I’d go even further than they do.”

Su Wuji grinned. “It’s such a relief talking to a smart woman. I don’t have to suffer through the daily torment of idiocy.”

Mu Qianyu gave him a sidelong glance, chuckling. “I like working with smart men, too.”

He laughed aloud. “Was that a compliment? Are you calling me smart?”

From the driver’s seat, Xiao Pang chimed in, “Boss, Miss Mu means she likes you.”

Mu Qianyu: “…”

Did he just extract the keywords from that?

Su Wuji burst out laughing. “Pang, you’re unusually eloquent today. I won’t deduct next year’s bonus!”

Mu Qianyu’s ears turned faintly pink, but she said nothing more.

She didn’t ask how Su Wuji had dug up Zhuo Chengqi’s dark past, didn’t press him about the sudden downfall of that official, and didn’t inquire how he’d known in advance about Liu Liangxuan and Zhuo Chengqi’s bodyguards.

It was as if she’d grown used to this young man constantly surprising her.

“You don’t have any questions for me?” Su Wuji asked.

Mu Qianyu thought for a moment. “You’re not… the Su family’s shadow heir, are you?”

“Shadow heir?” Su Wuji blinked. “Now that’s a new one.”

“For some families, the one calling the shots in public is just a front. The real power lies in someone hidden in the shadows. I look at you… and I see that kind of person.”

Su Wuji waved it off with a chuckle. “Come on, I know the Su family used to be powerful, but that was over twenty years ago. A fallen phoenix is worse off than a chicken now. We’re not even on par with the Mu family anymore. Who’s got the time to talk about heirs and masters?”

“If you really believe that,” Mu Qianyu said with a faint smile, “then it just proves one thing… that you don’t know how terrifying the Su family used to be.”

She looked him straight in the eyes, trying to pierce through to the truth hidden within.

But in the end… she failed.

Because in Su Wuji’s eyes, there was only one thing—clarity.

The clarity of a fool.

“I really don’t know if you’re faking or not.” She sighed and changed the subject. “Anyway, to thank you, let me treat you to dinner. Care to honor me?”

“Of course!” Su Wuji beamed. “Though honestly, I’m already full.”

Mu Qianyu raised a brow. “Hmm?”

“Because you’re a feast for the eyes,” he said with a grin.

She laughed, her eyes lighting up with genuine amusement.

Xiao Pang: “Miss Mu, the boss means he wants to eat you.”

Mu Qianyu: “…”

Su Wuji: “Pang, your next month’s salary is safe too!”

As the car rolled to a stop outside Queen’s Bar, Su Wuji spotted a brand-new Maybach S680 parked in front.

Next to it stood Xu Dongkai—Sixth Uncle from the Xu family. His son Xu Jiaze, face battered and bruised, was kneeling on the pavement.

Manager Xiao Yinlei was trying to mediate, but father and son refused to leave.

“Wow. They really did buy you a Maybach,” Mu Qianyu said, chuckling as she turned to him. “Why does your Sixth Uncle treat you like the word of God?”

“Long story.” Su Wuji waved it off. “Just some moldy old nonsense, not worth bringing up.”

He didn’t get out right away. Instead, he put his phone on speaker and called Xiao Yinlei.

“Tell those two I’m not interested in the Maybach. I don’t even want to see them. Just fix my little junker and tell Xu Jiaze to get his ass out of Linjiang University.”

Mu Qianyu gave him a sideways look. Given his usual attitude toward money, it was downright bizarre that he refused a car worth five or six million yuan.

He didn’t even take the opportunity to extort a couple Rolls-Royces? That was practically saintly.

Xiao Yinlei’s voice came through the speaker. “I already told them, but Xu Dongkai insists. He says he’s also grateful you saved his daughter last time, and you must accept the car…”

Mu Qianyu’s expression shifted. Gossip radar: activated.

She remembered Xu Dongkai’s eldest daughter—Xu Jiayan. She’d been studying abroad and rarely returned to China. High face value, even among Linzhou’s beauties.

And as they were still on the call, Xu Dongkai spotted Su Wuji’s car and rushed over, face flushed with excitement.

“No escaping now,” Su Wuji muttered, clearly annoyed, before opening the door and stepping out.

Mu Qianyu hesitated for two seconds. Then something flickered in her mind. She smiled and got out too.

“Su Shao, I’ll get your old car fixed, but please, please accept this new one!” Xu Dongkai pleaded.

Su Wuji ignored him and said coldly, “Linjiang University was founded by my grandfather. Letting Xu Jiaze stay there tarnishes its name.”

“Don’t worry, Su Shao. We’re processing his withdrawal. I’m planning to send him to the military.” Xu Dongkai kicked his son. “This good-for-nothing needs to be tempered in the army!”

Su Wuji nodded approvingly.

If Xu Jiaze didn’t get some discipline, he was bound to stir up real trouble down the line.

“Fine then. But just so you know, the army doesn’t take trash.” Su Wuji turned toward Mu Qianyu. “Come on, Qianyu. Let’s go eat.”

She gave the Maybach a final glance, then walked over to his side with a sly smile.

“Wait—Su Shao!” Xu Dongkai called after him, beads of sweat forming on his brow. “There’s one more request. My daughter, Xu Jiayan… she insisted…”

Su Wuji narrowed his eyes. “Insisted on what?”

“She insisted on seeing you,” Xu Dongkai finally blurted out.

Every time he faced this junior, he felt an indescribable pressure weighing on his chest.

As the words left his mouth, the Maybach’s driver’s door swung open.

The first thing Su Wuji saw was a pair of sleek brown ankle boots.

Then came a pair of long, smooth, ivory-white legs stepping out of the car.

Those legs went on forever—the woman had to be over 175 centimeters tall.

Above them, beige hotpants and a white sleeveless turtleneck hugged her body.

The outfit was simple, but the top was skin-tight, and at the chest, it featured two horizontal slashes—each a good ten centimeters long.

They looked like they’d been torn open.

The cuts weren’t wide—just a finger’s breadth—but they offered tantalizing glimpses of snow-white skin.

She wasn’t showing much, but that subtle design made her figure at least 50% more lethal.

If your body didn’t have the goods, you wouldn’t dare wear something like that.

This was Xu Jiayan.

“Why the hell’s she dressed so slutty?” Su Wuji muttered, frowning.

Mu Qianyu, hearing that, nearly burst out laughing.

“Hi, darling Wuji. We finally meet again,” Xu Jiayan purred.

Her voice was distinctive—soft and sweet, with a hint of lazy seduction.

She sauntered over, glanced at Mu Qianyu (who was conveniently wearing a matching outfit), and smiled with a trace of challenge curling her lips.

Then she threw her arms around Su Wuji.

Her embrace was warm, pliant—and devastating.

And just like that, Su Wuji went rigid.

Frozen.

Stiff.
