Shadow Heir II: Dark Glory - Chapter 35
Jiang Wanxing had never in her life met such an unscrupulous merchant. How dare he ask her for three hundred thousand for something that cost eight hundred? The guy even pretended to be a good person before, saying he’d used the sofa for a few months and knocking off the extra fifty thousand from the three hundred and fifty! He was absolutely shameless!
And his two subordinates were each odder than the last. Their seemingly caring words made Jiang Wanxing feel too embarrassed to show her face.
Jiang Wanxing, straddling Su Wuji’s waist, wished she could just choke the guy to death right then and there! Major Jiang, whose composure had been broken again and again, now looked like a Persian cat with its teeth and claws bared. If anyone who knew her saw this flustered state, their eyeballs would probably fall out of their heads in shock!
When had Major Jiang ever been so intimate with a man? The posture was undeniably suggestive, leaving limitless room for imagination even with a blanket between them.
Being pressed down like this, Su Wuji instinctively wanted to thrust his hips, but he thought better of it. He was afraid his “little brother” might not survive.
“Fine, I’ll give you back all the money, okay?!” Su Wuji quickly grabbed his phone and started the process.
In reality, Jiang Wanxing seemed to be strangling him, but she wasn’t using much force. But Su Wuji couldn’t withstand her sitting on him. That part of her was so perky, her thighs so springy. How could a virgin who’d only ever seen it happen but never experienced it himself withstand such pressure!
“Hurry up and give me back the money, or I’m really going to strangle you!” Jiang Wanxing was so overwhelmed with emotion that she didn’t realize her posture was completely inappropriate.
Su Wuji: “Okay, okay… just don’t crush me to death…”
His mind was so muddled he’d heard “strangle” as “crush.”
Just as Su Wuji was about to enter his password, his phone suddenly rang. The moment he saw the caller, his expression changed, and he immediately answered.
The voice on the other end of the line was filled with urgency and excitement. “Boss, we’ve got news on Sister Fen! For all these years, she and her accomplices have been hiding in Jinyang City!”
Jinyang was about a three-hour drive from Linzhou.
Su Wuji’s eyes narrowed. “Send me her location!”
As he spoke, he grabbed Jiang Wanxing’s shoulders, then with a powerful thrust of his waist, he flipped her off of him! The movement was too sudden, and caught off guard, Jiang Wanxing was sent flying off the bed and onto the floor!
“Everyone, gather up!” Su Wuji yelled, his voice full of killing intent. “We’re going to Jinyang to get her!”
Xiao Pang and Xiao Yinlei immediately rushed out as well.
“Hey, hey, hey, what’s with you?!” Jiang Wanxing shouted. “You haven’t given me back the money yet!”
Only after shouting this did she realize that she was sitting on the floor.
The strength Su Wuji had suddenly burst out with was a bit too much! Jiang Wanxing was extremely confident in her own skills. She knew exactly how strong her core was. Sitting on top of Su Wuji, she should have had the absolute advantage. How could he have possibly flipped her off?
A hint of solemnity appeared in Jiang Wanxing’s eyes. At this moment, she was certain that her intuition had been correct. That sniper rifle was definitely related to Su Wuji!
“I’m going to expose you, no matter what.” Jiang Wanxing gritted her teeth.
Perhaps due to the nature of her work, or because she had been swindled out of her money by this merchant, Jiang Wanxing truly wanted to arrest Su Wuji on the spot for illegal possession of a firearm!
By the time Jiang Wanxing ran downstairs, more than twenty cars were already parked outside the bar. The efficiency of their assembly was incredible!
It was nearly three in the morning. Empress Bar was still open for business, but all the security guards and male waiters had rushed outside and quickly boarded the cars!
“Empress is closing. We’ll be closed for the day tomorrow.” Xiao Yinlei said over a walkie-talkie.
As her words fell, the entire bar instantly went dark! The colorful lights and shadows immediately went out, and the once-spectacular nightclub became pitch-black in the blink of an eye!
The customers inside were all stunned, but they didn’t think much of it, assuming it was a sudden power outage.
Jiang Wanxing’s curiosity was piqued. What could be so important that the entire Empress Bar would close for it? What could make Su Wuji undergo such a transformation?
Jiang Wanxing felt that the killing intent she’d sensed from Su Wuji earlier was very familiar. It was the scent of gunpowder that only battle-hardened veterans could emit!
Her heart was indeed filled with curiosity, but she didn’t think about it too much and immediately jumped into the back seat of a domestic SUV, right next to Su Wuji.
Seeing Jiang Wanxing get in, he didn’t try to get rid of her. “It’s good that you’ve come. We could use another hand.”
“I told you I’d be following you for the next ten-plus days,” Jiang Wanxing said.
Su Wuji, however, was no longer joking. His expression was intensely serious. This was an expression, an aura, that Jiang Wanxing had never seen on him before!
This guy was definitely hiding a secret!
“What’s going on?” Jiang Wanxing asked, her tone changing. “You can tell me beforehand.”
She could tell that the waiters and bar security guards who got in the cars were all elites! Not to mention they were clearly on a completely different level than the security hired by other bars, even professional security companies probably couldn’t compare.
Xiao Yinlei, sitting in the passenger seat, took over the conversation. “The matter our boss has been investigating for two years finally has a lead.”
“Two years?”
“And this is a case that the public security bureau has had open for over twenty years, but the investigation had come to a standstill,” Xiao Yinlei said. “It’s the serial human trafficking case of Sister Fen.”
“Sister Fen?” Jiang Wanxing’s eyes widened abruptly.
No wonder she had felt such a strong sense of familiarity when she heard that name from Su Wuji’s phone call! Jiang Wanxing knew that a human trafficker named “Sister Fen” had once abducted more than sixty children and twenty young women. Over the years, more than a dozen victims had come forward to accuse her, but this Sister Fen had always managed to get away with it.
During the trafficking process, when faced with disobedient children or those who couldn’t be sold for a good price, Sister Fen would either abandon them directly or strangle them to death on the spot and dump their bodies in ravines. Her crimes were truly heinous.
Because too much time had passed, the public security bureau only had a vague sketch of Sister Fen. Even with a nationwide manhunt, she had never been caught.
“Our boss never gave up,” Xiao Yinlei said. “Thankfully, it seems we’ll finally get some results today.” At this moment, much of her usual sensual and alluring aura had vanished, replaced by a sharp, cold intensity that had almost never been seen on her before.
Jiang Wanxing turned her head to look at Su Wuji, but didn’t say anything else. With her work experience, she naturally knew how much manpower and financial resources such a nationwide investigation would require. She never expected that a rascal of a nightclub boss would be quietly doing this.
Jiang Wanxing suddenly didn’t want to get her twenty thousand dollars back anymore!
“Boss, Li Chaosheng is calling,” Xiao Yinlei said.
“Put it on speakerphone.” Su Wuji didn’t try to hide the call from Jiang Wanxing.
“Boss, we’ve confirmed it. Sister Fen is currently hiding in Xiyang Town, Jinyang City. Her current name is Han Guilan, she’s sixty-two years old, and she’s been running a restaurant for many years.”
“Several of her former accomplices are working in this restaurant. Their official identities are waiters and chefs, and business is quite good.”
“I suspect this restaurant has been a transit point for human trafficking for all these years,” Li Chaosheng continued. “Two years ago, a child disappearance case hit a dead end in Jinyang City. This group of people is probably still continuing their trafficking activities.”
Jiang Wanxing had a strong memory of that trafficking case from two years ago. The internet was so advanced now, and the parents of the missing child often posted help videos online. It was heartbreaking to watch, and it made people want to tear the traffickers to pieces.
“Okay,” Su Wuji said in a low voice. “Don’t tip them off. Wait for me to get there.”
Jiang Wanxing clenched her fists and said, “Boss Su, in this matter… you are a living Bodhisattva.”
“I’m not even close,” Su Wuji shook his head slightly. “I’m just doing what I can.”
“I’m impressed,” Jiang Wanxing said. She couldn’t figure it out, and she was too lazy to try to. Why would a person have such a drastic contrast in their personality… Unless he was a good person all along, and had only used his acting skills to conceal his kind side.
“It’s actually a good thing that Major Jiang is willing to help me. At least you can explain a few things to the police for me afterward,” Su Wuji said with a laugh. “I wouldn’t want this to be considered an act of provocation.”
“There’s no need for me to explain for you,” Jiang Wanxing said.
Su Wuji raised an eyebrow. “Hmm? Are you holding a grudge?”
“Because I can do something else for you.”
As she spoke, Jiang Wanxing picked up her phone and dialed a number.
Once it connected, she said, “This is Major Jiang Wanxing of the Top Secret Task Force. I am requesting a deployment of the Linjiang Province Special Operations Team for fire support. Location: Xiyang Town, Jinyang City.”
