Shadow Heir II: Dark Glory - Chapter 37
It was a face full of malice. Even though the photo from back then was blurry, and even though years had passed and her hair was longer and she was thinner, Su Wuji and Jiang Wanxing still recognized her at a glance. This woman was Sister Fen!
Su Wuji kicked the deep fryer over, and the middle-aged accomplice began to scream and writhe on the ground, covering his face, in excruciating pain. Everyone eating turned to look.
However, Sister Fen, who had extensive experience evading authorities, was not distracted. She merely glanced over, then turned and began to walk deeper into the restaurant.
Jiang Wanxing would not allow that to happen! She reached out and grabbed Sister Fen’s shoulder!
To her surprise, the woman immediately pulled a knife from her pocket, spun around, and slashed at Jiang Wanxing’s neck! This sixty-something-year-old skinny woman possessed skills far beyond that of a normal person. Her reaction speed and wariness were extraordinary!
However, her attacks might have been effective against others, but in Jiang Wanxing’s eyes, they were far too slow. She simply shifted to the side to dodge the dagger, then lifted her right leg and delivered a heavy kick to Sister Fen’s ribs!
Crack, crack! At least three of Sister Fen’s ribs snapped! She completely lost her balance, was sent flying three meters, and slammed heavily into a dining table!
Even in such agony, she didn’t release the knife in her hand!
“You dared to come to Xiyang Town? I’ll kill you all!” Sister Fen screamed. Her voice was sharp and vicious, full of intense malice.
Just as Jiang Wanxing was about to step forward and subdue her, Su Wuji’s figure appeared in front of her!
Su Wuji grabbed a handful of Sister Fen’s hair and yanked her up. “Who’s killing who?” he said, and then holding her head, he viciously slammed it into the tabletop!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Once, twice, three times! The impacts were so hard that Sister Fen couldn’t hold on to the knife anymore, and the dagger fell to the floor!
Yet, Su Wuji didn’t stop. He continued to hold her up by her hair and slam her down again! He continued for a dozen more times until the entire wooden table splintered apart!
Sister Fen’s face was covered in blood, and she had passed out. Her previous arrogance was completely gone!
But it wasn’t over. Su Wuji picked up a table leg and swung it down, smashing it onto Sister Fen’s ankle! The ankle instantly broke, visibly deforming! With such an injury, even if she regained consciousness, she would have no way to escape!
Jiang Wanxing didn’t stop Su Wuji. She could understand the fury in the young man’s heart.
At this moment, more than a dozen burly men rushed out from the backyard! Su Wuji stared at them, and spoke into the communicator. “Assault and sniper teams, listen up! If any suspects charge the checkpoints, do not question them, open fire immediately!”
He once again gave an order to the Linjiang Special Ops Team. With the fighting here and the capture of the main suspect, the other members of the syndicate would likely try to scatter and flee.
Bang!
Before Su Wuji’s words had even finished, a gunshot rang out from outside. A man had gotten into a car and was attempting to charge through a checkpoint. Xiao Yinlei’s sniper rifle fired, shattering the windshield and ending the guy’s life!
The group of security guards and waiters from Empress Bar also rushed into the town, brandishing batons and daggers.
A large-scale capture operation had begun! The momentum was like a tiger devouring a wolf!
However, the capture process of Su Wuji’s group was different from that of the police. They were simply—taking direct action, fighting until their opponents couldn’t move, then capturing them! As for accidentally killing them… then so be it. The boss would handle the consequences later!
At this point, faced with a dozen or so thugs rushing out of the backyard, Jiang Wanxing moved first. Her long, springy leg directly kicked one man to the ground, then she knocked another out with a single punch. Everyone who took a hit from her immediately lost their will to fight. Jiang Wanxing’s fists had an astonishing explosive power. She targeted the vital points that only special forces soldiers would know, and with a single punch, the damage was incredibly effective.
However, after she had knocked out six or seven people, the entire restaurant fell silent. A dozen or so men were already lying on the ground at Su Wuji’s feet. His efficiency was even higher than Jiang Wanxing’s, the special ops soldier! Every single one of those men had broken bones and torn muscles!
Jiang Wanxing was a little surprised but didn’t ask about it. Instead, she said, “They have a lot of people. Let’s split up.”
“You keep an eye on Sister Fen. I’ll go get the rest!” Su Wuji shouted. At the same time, he pulled a baton from his waist and tossed it to her.
“Okay,” Jiang Wanxing replied, catching the baton. She didn’t argue with or interfere with Su Wuji’s orders.
What slightly surprised Jiang Wanxing, though, was the continuous sound of gunshots outside, which was quite dense for a few minutes.
“Linjiang Special Ops Team, report your situation,” she couldn’t help but ask.
“Major Jiang, there are a lot of people trying to charge the checkpoints. More than a dozen of them even have pistols and rifles,” a Special Ops member reported.
When she heard the number of guns, Jiang Wanxing finally understood. This town was a large hideout that provided cover for a human trafficking network! She had no idea how many people were involved! The true number of trafficking victims over the years was likely far higher than official statistics!
Under attack, those traffickers would certainly fight back like cornered animals, willing to die to break the net! In this situation, Jiang Wanxing knew that the number of men Su Wuji had brought might not be enough. They would surely face a lot of resistance, so she said:
“Special Ops Team, when faced with escape or resistance, do not show mercy. Shoot to kill. I’ll take responsibility for the explanation afterward!”
Jiang Wanxing, having come from the special forces, wouldn’t kill indiscriminately, but she was never a dogmatic person. She wouldn’t endanger herself and her comrades for the sake of regulations. Just today, if it had been someone who was “only righteous” or “strictly followed the law,” they would have probably arrested Su Wuji first!
Jiang Wanxing never once considered that by going crazy with Su Wuji, she might face disciplinary action!
At that moment, a dozen or so scantily-clad young women ran out from the lodging area behind Guilan Restaurant. They were in a panic, with men chasing and cursing at them from behind.
Seeing this, Jiang Wanxing immediately pulled out the baton Su Wuji had given her and charged forward! After just a few swings, the chasers were all left with broken legs and feet, unconscious on the ground!
“Please, save us! Take us out of here!”
“If we stay any longer, we’ll be killed! Every time we’ve tried to run, we’ve been caught again…” the girls cried to Jiang Wanxing. Some even knelt down and began to kowtow to her without stopping. They weren’t wearing much, and the bruises from being beaten were clearly visible. Their wrists and ankles were almost all covered in marks from being tied up with ropes!
Seeing this, Jiang Wanxing felt a fire burning in her chest!
“Don’t worry. Starting today, everything will be okay,” Jiang Wanxing said, holding a girl’s hand with deep emotion. She then looked at Sister Fen, who was lying unconscious on the ground, filled with revulsion.
“Do you know her?” Jiang Wanxing asked.
“It’s her! She’s the leader here… that old woman!” One of the girls pointed at Sister Fen, trembling uncontrollably. It was clear that this old woman had once caused them immense fear.
Jiang Wanxing walked over with the baton and hit Sister Fen’s ribs and arms several more times. She could hear the bones cracking with each strike! This wasn’t her usual way of doing things, since the suspect was already incapacitated, but she didn’t know if she was infected by Su Wuji or the scene, but at this moment, Jiang Wanxing only wanted to use this method to win back a little bit of justice for the victims.
An hour later, the battle in Xiyang Town was largely over. The number of armed resistors who were shot and killed by the Linjiang Special Ops Team reached twelve. In addition, six other thugs who had charged at them with knives were also killed by Xiao Yinlei’s gun. The number of people who were beaten until they could no longer move was around sixty or seventy.
If the city police had come to the town to make the arrests without sufficient firearms, they would have likely suffered heavy losses. Even Su Wuji had underestimated the enemy’s strength this time.
More than eighty young women were rescued from the hotels near the mountain road. There were also seven children, aged two to three, who had not yet been trafficked away.
The numbers were staggering!
The police forces from the Linjiang Provincial Department and Jinyang City Bureau were already dispatched in large numbers, and the city bureau of Linzhou, the provincial capital, had also sent detectives to assist. Police lights filled the mountainside.
Jiang Wanxing sat on a hill, looking at the suspects being led away in lines. She then looked at the young man beside her, who was covered in dirt and had blood on his hands. He was using a wet wipe to clean the dried blood from his hands. The mountain wind of the early morning blew through his short hair, giving him a sense of wild freedom and vigor that Jiang Wanxing had never seen on any of the young masters of prestigious families.
At that moment, her aunt, Fang Qianxue, sent her a message: “So, have you found any handsome men in Linzhou that meet your standards?”
Jiang Wanxing looked up at Su Wuji, then lowered her head and sent a reply:
“I think I might have.”
