Su Wuji had no idea that Jiang Wanxing and Mu Qianyu had appeared at Tianji Middle School at the same time, or that they had even met his parents.

Early in the morning, he drove to the top-floor apartment in the city center to check on Xu Jiayan’s injuries, only to find her packing her things.

At this moment, Xu Jiayan was wearing only a simple camisole with nothing underneath. Thanks to gravity, the action of bending over to fold clothes made certain heavy shapes even more prominent.

“What, you’re leaving?” Su Wuji asked.

Xu Jiayan had suffered significant internal injuries earlier. She hadn’t fully recovered yet, and her face was still somewhat pale.

She gave him a dazzling smile. “I have to report to the hospital. I’ll come back to hit on you next time.”

Su Wuji suddenly recalled when this woman had called herself a “water doll.” He wondered if “hit on” was meant literally.

“You’re injured like this, stop flirting.” Su Wuji shook his head. “You’re in such a hurry to go to Ninghai; I doubt it’s just to report for work, is it?”

“I really have to go to work.” Xu Jiayan coughed twice. “Otherwise, the hospital will fire me.”

Su Wuji gave Xu Jiayan a meaningful look. “Actually, if there’s anything going on, you can tell me completely.”

“Alright, alright.” Xu Jiayan walked over and hugged Su Wuji’s arm with both hands. “When I feel I can tell you, I will definitely be completely open and honest with you.”

“Open and honest… You’re going to die of being a hussy.” Su Wuji pulled his arm out from the soft squeeze. “How about this? I have nothing to do anyway, so I’ll just drive you to Ninghai.”

Hearing this, Xu Jiayan was stunned for a moment.

Then, her eyes filled with a smile, her eyelashes curving. “I’ve been pestering you for so long, have you finally decided to accept me?”

Su Wuji looked at her as if she were an idiot.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Xu Jiayan said. “I’m sincere about you. There’s absolutely no acting involved.”

However, Su Wuji shook his head. “If you insist on leaving, then I will arrange for someone to protect you for a month. No negotiation.”

Xu Jiayan’s body trembled slightly. She suddenly wasn’t sure if Su Wuji had guessed her identity as a Silver Moon member!

“China is very safe. I won’t get hurt again.” Xu Jiayan gave an ambiguous response.

Su Wuji responded similarly, “China is very safe, but that doesn’t stop some foreign breeds of dogs from acting inhumanely.”

Dkaro. Hyenas!

“What do you know?” Xu Jiayan’s expression sharpened, and she finally asked.

“You’ve been staying in this small apartment for the past few days, so you might not know. The Sister Fen case, which has plagued the Chinese police for years, has been declared solved. The police also uncovered the connection between Sister Fen’s trafficking ring and an overseas organization.”

Su Wuji paused, then said, “This organization is called Dkaro.”

After he finished speaking, he discovered that Xu Jiayan’s eyes were already red.

“Why are you crying?” Su Wuji asked.

Xu Jiayan didn’t answer. The tears in her eyes were like floodgates opening; from appearing to surging out, it happened in an instant.

“You really are a water doll,” Su Wuji said, pulling out several tissues to help wipe Xu Jiayan’s tears.

Xu Jiayan smiled through her tears. “So what?”

“I have a few friends who are police officers in Linzhou. They told me that on the day you were injured, several assassins from the Dkaro Organization were also arrested in Linzhou,” Su Wuji said. “I later asked around about the Western Dark World, so… I roughly guessed your true identity.”

The second half of that sentence was obviously not true, but it was the most convincing to Xu Jiayan.

“So, are you going to hand me over to the police?” Xu Jiayan wasn’t nervous at all. She raised her hands flat in front of Su Wuji. “You can handcuff me and put me in any position.”

Tears were still flowing down her face.

“Still flirting…”

Su Wuji shook his head. “I won’t tell anyone. After all, Silver Moon’s vigilantism is also seriously illegal in China.”

Xu Jiayan took a step forward and hugged Su Wuji, squeezing quite hard. The soft pressure from her chest almost made him bounce away.

“Don’t blame me for not telling you the truth,” Xu Jiayan said very seriously. “The Western Dark World is too complex; it can’t be compared to the triads here. I didn’t want to drag you into it.”

Su Wuji said in his heart, But I’ve been in it for a long time, much longer than you.

But on the surface, he didn’t say much. Instead, he asked, “So, that Cihui International Hospital where you work, is it also a Silver Moon organization institution?”

“No,” Xu Jiayan said. “At least, Ninghai Cihui Hospital isn’t.”

“Then the Cihui Hospital in Europe must be,” Su Wuji said. “In that case, I definitely have to take you to Ninghai. It’s not safe.”

Although he didn’t necessarily believe Silver Moon’s actions were always right, he had a lot of respect for these assassins who viewed death as a return home. This was the main reason Su Wuji had saved Silver Moon members time and time again.

Xu Jiayan looked at him with smiling eyes. “If you act like this, you’ll make me fall even harder for you. I’ll stick to you for the rest of my life.”

“You keep saying you don’t want to bring me danger, yet you cling to me relentlessly. Isn’t that contradictory?” Su Wuji chuckled. “Hypocritical woman.”

Xu Jiayan gave an answer Su Wuji didn’t expect:

“On one side is emotion, on the other is conviction. Both are beyond my control.”

Her expression was very serious when she spoke, seemingly quite emotional.

However, Xu Jiayan immediately added, “Of course, my physical reaction is too.”

She felt uncomfortable if she didn’t flirt with Su Wuji every three sentences. Warm breath released from Xu Jiayan’s mouth and landed on Su Wuji’s ear. He lowered his head slightly, looked at that exquisitely curvy figure, and his heart instinctively began to heat up.

At this moment, Su Wuji truly understood that Xu Jiayan was right; physical reactions were indeed uncontrollable. His “little brother” showed signs of raising its head.

Su Wuji really wanted to say, flirt again and I’ll spank your butt, but after thinking about it, he didn’t say it. After all, he was certain that if he opened his mouth, Xu Jiayan would definitely stick it out and let him spank it.

Two hours later, Su Wuji drove to the entrance of Ninghai Cihui Hospital.

He had wanted to have a good chat with Xu Jiayan in the car. After all, the girl had immediately shed tears of joy when Sister Fen was caught, and that wasn’t fake. Now, aside from that sexy figure, Su Wuji wanted to explore Xu Jiayan’s inner world a little deeper.

But Xu Jiayan’s body was indeed still a bit weak, and she slept in the passenger seat the whole way.

After waking up, she rubbed her eyes, unbuckled her seatbelt, and said, “I’m going to report in, darling.”

Su Wuji finally dared to glance to the right. The entire way, the seatbelt had highlighted the peaks incredibly clearly. The summits trembled lightly with the bumps of the car, forcing him to look straight ahead, not daring to even peek out of the corner of his eye.

“What ‘darling’? Don’t shout randomly,” Su Wuji said.

“Okay then, darling,” Xu Jiayan smiled charmingly.

Su Wuji coughed and said, “Ahem, well, wear looser jackets in the future.”

Xu Jiayan looked down at her chest, her smile blooming like a flower. “Okay, from now on, I’ll only go jacket-less in front of you.”

“Hurry up and go, it’s an eyesore,” Su Wuji waved his hand grumpily.

As to whether it was an eyesore or dazzling, only Su Wuji knew.

Xu Jiayan made a finger heart at Su Wuji, then turned and walked toward the hospital. Her high heels made her graceful figure even more alluring from behind. Su Wuji watched for a good while, only withdrawing his gaze after she walked into the hospital.

Actually, the reason he drove Xu Jiayan over was because Su Wuji was worried she would drag her injured body to execute another elimination mission. Since the Dkaro Organization had stumbled badly in China, they were likely already preparing for their next retaliation. Given Dr. Xu’s current physical state, it would be difficult for her to mount an effective counterattack.

Just then, Su Wuji’s phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, it was Park Yanxi. She had been incredibly busy the past two days wrapping up the investigation into the Sister Fen case.

“Heard from Xiao Pang that you went to Ninghai?” Park Yanxi asked.

“Yes, took a friend to work,” Su Wuji laughed. “Xiao Pang’s mouth is like torn cotton pants without an elastic band.”

“What, did you agree to Xu Jiayan’s pursuit?” Park Yanxi seemed to be in a pretty good mood. “As a woman, I can tell that girl really likes you. Eyes don’t lie.”

“It’s just because I saved her at the club,” Su Wuji said. “Looking back, she might not have even needed my help then.”

“She’s quite nice. That figure…” Park Yanxi chuckled softly. “She can bear sons.”

“You look like you can bear them too,” Su Wuji retorted.

Park Yanxi: “…”

“Wait for me in Ninghai for half a day. I’ll be there tonight,” Park Yanxi changed the subject. “In the Sister Fen case, there was a little girl who was sold to the Xu family in Linzhou years ago. I checked it out, and I think it might be Xu Jiayan.”

Upon hearing this, Su Wuji’s gaze suddenly sharpened.

NOTES

Tǎn chéng xiāng jiàn (坦诚相见): Idiom meaning “to be open and honest with each other.” However, it is often used as a pun because the characters can literally imply “meeting while baring one’s body/naked.” Xu Jiayan uses this double entendre intentionally.
