- Chapter 51 - So What if You're a Leader's Chief Secretary?
Inside the café, Park Yanxi and Xu Jiayan sat opposite each other. Park Yanxi was not in uniform but wore black sportswear. Her pure, understated beauty formed a stark contrast with Xu Jiayan, whose very bones seemed to exude sex appeal and charm.
“Miss Xu, do you have any knowledge about your background?” Park Yanxi asked.
The interrogation of Sister Fen was progressing smoothly. According to her recollection, she had once sold a little girl to the Xu family in Linzhou. Park Yanxi easily found out that this matter involved Xu Jiayan.
A cold light flashed through Xu Jiayan’s beautiful eyes. “Yes. Even though I was only four years old at the time, I will never forget Sister Fen’s sinister face. Every day, I want to bring her to justice.”
However, what Xu Jiayan didn’t say was that the “justice” she referred to was Silver Moon’s vigilantism! For a scoundrel who had ruined her life, letting her rot in jail was simply too cheap a punishment.
Park Yanxi said, “So, you also know that Xu Dongkai is your adoptive father?”
Xu Jiayan nodded. “Although memories from before age four gradually blurred, I have always been very clear that I don’t belong to Linzhou. My dad is a good man and has always treated me like his own daughter. However, the person who bought me from the traffickers wasn’t him, but my current grandmother.”
Park Yanxi nodded. “I know. Old Mrs. Xu passed away the year before last.”
Xu Jiayan took a sip of coffee, sighed, and said, “Grandma only bought me because she saw how pitiful I was, without even a thick coat in the middle of winter, my face and body covered in bruises from Sister Fen’s beatings… Actually, Grandma and Dad have always treated me very well. But partly because of my adoptive mother, and partly because I remember my past, it has always been difficult for me to truly integrate into this big family from the bottom of my heart.”
Park Yanxi nodded gently. “We have been working on finding your relatives, but it’s been too long, and valid information is scarce, so…”
Xu Jiayan immediately said, “I understand. Trying to find my biological parents is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Being able to have today’s result, I am already very content.”
“No, I haven’t finished,” Park Yanxi said. “After interrogating Sister Fen, we deduced that you might have been abducted by Sister Fen from Tieshan City in Beilin Province, but specific clues are still pending…”
Before she could finish, she saw Xu Jiayan’s eyes redden again.
“Thank you…”
Her tears surged out uncontrollably!
Park Yanxi waited quietly for Xu Jiayan to cry for a while before saying, “You need to be mentally prepared. The search for your relatives might yield results very soon, but it’s also possible that we might never find them…”
“I know. I’m already pleasantly surprised,” Xu Jiayan said, trying hard to suppress the fluctuating emotions in her heart. “By the way, can I meet the police officer who caught Sister Fen? I want to thank him in person.”
Park Yanxi smiled gently, a soft light unconsciously passing through her eyes. “It wasn’t a police officer who caught her, but a warm-hearted citizen who wishes to remain anonymous.”
Xu Jiayan sharply noticed the light in Park Yanxi’s eyes and immediately asked, “Officer Park knows this person?”
“I do indeed know him.” Park Yanxi added in her heart, And so do you.
“I really want to meet him. Officer Park, please ask for his opinion for me,” Xu Jiayan’s tone carried obvious pleading.
“Okay.” Seeing the other’s red eyes, Park Yanxi agreed.
Then, she asked, “Miss Xu, you’ve lived in Europe for years. How much do you know about the Silver Moon Organization?”
Xu Jiayan’s expression remained unchanged. “I’ve heard of them, but I don’t know much.” She couldn’t quite figure out the beautiful police officer’s intention in asking this suddenly. Xu Jiayan knew her stance was opposed to the Chinese police. Once the authorities knew that Zhuo Chengqi’s death was related to her, she would inevitably be arrested and imprisoned.
“The Silver Moon Organization has gained great fame in the last two years, but their methods are somewhat extreme,” Park Yanxi looked at Xu Jiayan and said. “A few days ago, Linzhou tycoon Zhuo Chengqi jumped off a building and committed suicide. We suspect it’s related to the Silver Moon Organization.”
Actually, Su Wuji didn’t know Xu Jiayan was a member of Silver Moon before; otherwise, he wouldn’t have openly mentioned this matter at the Linmu Insurance board meeting.
Xu Jiayan remained silent.
“Now Zhuo Chengqi’s son, Zhuo Sixuan, is in Ninghai. He might become Silver Moon’s next target,” Park Yanxi said.
“Zhuo Sixuan. I met him a few years ago. A dissolute playboy; he even pursued me,” Xu Jiayan shook her head. “That man changes girlfriends more often than he changes clothes.”
From her expression, no emotion could be discerned.
“In China, Silver Moon’s actions are not permitted,” Park Yanxi shook her head. “We have already started investigating Zhuo Sixuan, but gathering evidence is somewhat difficult and may take some time.”
Xu Jiayan nodded. “I hope everything goes smoothly and such people are brought to justice soon.”
Park Yanxi chatted for a few more sentences before getting up to leave. However, before leaving, she added, “Miss Xu, you don’t look very well. Rest up.”
Xu Jiayan looked at Park Yanxi’s retreating figure and remained silent for a long time. She wasn’t sure if Officer Park already suspected her, especially with that last sentence, which could easily be over-interpreted. However, from the other’s words, Xu Jiayan could confirm, Zhuo Sixuan was already being watched by the police.
In this situation, if Xu Jiayan insisted on taking measures against Zhuo Sixuan, she would inevitably bear the risk of exposing herself.
Her thoughts were a bit chaotic. Xu Jiayan sat quietly for a while longer before preparing to go back.
During this process, Su Wuji hadn’t contacted her.
Just then, a black commercial van stopped in front of Xu Jiayan. The front passenger door opened, and a woman in a black suit got out and stood in front of her. “Dr. Xu, hello.”
“Who are you?” Xu Jiayan asked.
“I am Director Li Zunyang’s secretary. He wants to talk to you face-to-face about withdrawing shares from Cihui Hospital.”
This woman had short hair, wore flat shoes, moved briskly, and looked quite decent, but her tone wasn’t very polite.
Xu Jiayan’s expression remained unchanged as she said coolly, “If Director Li wants to withdraw shares, he can go through the procedures directly with the hospital board. There’s no need to go through me.”
Saying this, she looked at the van. All the windows were tinted dark, making it impossible to see inside.
“Dr. Xu, I advise you to get in the car,” the female secretary’s words carried a command. She stood to Xu Jiayan’s side, reached out, and grabbed her arm! Clearly, if Xu Jiayan tried to run, she would immediately subdue her!
Xu Jiayan didn’t run or shout, only calmly saying, “Judging by those moves, you’re definitely not a secretary. Who exactly are you?” Actually, at this moment, even though Xu Jiayan was physically weak, she had more than ten ways to take this short-haired woman’s life.
The short-haired woman began applying force with her hand and said coldly, “Get in the car.”
However, in the next second, her hair was grabbed from behind! Then, a massive force came, and her head uncontrollably slammed toward the car window!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
After three fierce slams, the glass of the sliding door was completely shattered! The female secretary collapsed to the ground, her face covered in blood, and Su Wuji’s figure appeared!
In the back seat of the car sat a fair-skinned middle-aged man. He didn’t look panicked at all. Adjusting his glasses, he smiled slightly. “Heroes indeed emerge from the youth. You’ve passed the test and now have the qualification to meet the real boss.”
Su Wuji glanced at him and chuckled. “Idiot.”
The middle-aged man was stunned, then a look of anger appeared on his face. “You curse at me like that? Do you know who I am? That I came to see you today is already giving you face!”
Su Wuji ignored him completely, turned aside, and said lightly, “Xiao Pang, find something to plug his mouth.”
The middle-aged man then discovered a gigantic figure beside him. Immediately after, he was lifted upside down!
Xiao Pang kicked open a nearby manhole cover, let go, and threw the middle-aged man directly into the roadside sewer! A strong stench hit him in the face! Viscous waste instantly submerged him!
It filled his mouth!
Only then did the middle-aged man realize that the big fool meant to use this stuff to plug his mouth!
Xu Jiayan pinched her nose and stood aside. Smelling the odor, she clearly remembered something. “I’ve seen this person on TV. He seems to be the secretary of so-and-so; his identity is quite sensitive… Do you want to lie low for a while?”
Clearly, in this brief moment, Xu Jiayan had already thought of the potential risks to follow!
Su Wuji smiled slightly. “It doesn’t matter. Because for all those who act pretentiously in front of me, I must treat them equally.”
Xiao Pang repeated, “Yes, treat them equally.”
Immediately after…
Splash!
Splash!
Clang!
Xiao Pang threw the female secretary and the driver into the sewer as well, then replaced the heavy manhole cover! Gurgling sounds came from below; presumably, all three had eaten their fill!
Xu Jiayan smiled like a flower, but there was a touch of emotion in her eyes.
“This has nothing to do with you two. It all started because of me. You should leave quickly,” she hugged Su Wuji’s arm and urged. “For you guys, Ninghai is very dangerous right now!”
